May 20th

Beginning cognitive neuroscience research at Hakwan Lau's Consciousness and Computation Lab. Learning some biostatistics, linear algebra and MATLAB to get up to speed and volunteering at the Weil Cornell Long Island City Clinic beginning June 9th to help out and better understand long term patient care.

Hugo Berkely, Josephine Dorado and I have been awarded a MacArthur Award for our Fractor project. The award will enable us to launch Fractor, a web application that matches news stories with opportunities for social activism and community service. Future home of Fractor website: HERE

November 29th

Have started premedical school at Columbia University. Planning Mandala project where environment become symbol and music meets the Himalayan culture. Studying science and surgery.

August 13th

Just finished a two week stint as composer/performer in Kansas City, MO where I created a one hour score for an Etre Arts outdoor dance performance. Worked with 5 incredibly talented KC dancers, a mime, a wonderful funk ensemble and choreographer/director extrodinaire Nicole Romine. Despite having to change venues at the last minute the show, which was part of the K.C. Fringe Festival, was a wonderful experience and played to sold out audiences four nights in a row.

August 11th

When Day Become Night: Fantastic Butoh dancer, singer, director and theatrical personality Leigh Even's show When Day Become's Night opens up this week at St. Mark's Church beginning Wednesday, August 15th and continuing through Saturday, August 18th, every night at 8 p.m. I've written about 40 minutes of music and sound design for this 1 hour piece and will be performing with Marika Hughes on Cello and Joseph Higgins on Bass.

A ghostly "Bone Girl" takes possession of a street accordionist in an intricate dance of transformation creating a physical and filmic dialogue between memory and the destructive power of war in Leigh Evans' haunting performance, When Day Became Night.

A new teaser for the Gantry Park Project including some sample photographs. The music is original but has little to do with the acutal music for the performance. This is my intro to new instruments. After playing the violin for over 30 years, I decided to take up the Alto sax this week. Long way to go but I've learned to love the flaws. Have to add this. Just saw Sicko. Great movie and a terribly important message. The big question Moore poses is: Why don't we take care of our own citizens? It looks like states may make progress on this long before Washington ever does but perhaps if $100 million dollars worth of folks go see this, we might get a universal, comprehesive national health care system. O.k., probably not, but maybe more folks would rank this above terrorism as their top issue when they vote!
